Aaron Sprinkle, Aaron Lunsford, Matt Carter have, in the last week, completed drum tracking. Sprinkle has been mixing sounds. No real bass has been recorded.
11:30 AM - Cody arrives from airport to find Carter and Sprinkle trying to chase down a buzz in the guitar line with some re-routing, the problem is solved.
Carter leaves almost immediately to attend and pay respects at Joe Head’s funeral/memorial service. Lunsford leaves to bring his kids to their baseball games.
Sprinkle and Bonnette talk vision and recording direction. They begin by putting an SM 57 on the Nylon string. The four chords on repeat and doubled. Bonnette then lays down a muted bass track on the Hofner.
The song is “Mind Chatter” The same 4 chords repeat. The wheel is not being reinvented here. But it’s a good base for the vocals - Bonnette double the vocals from several takes. Sprinkle comps fast and it’s clean.
PPA-LD1 is the microphone used for vocals. Sold for $100 back in the 90’s. Now nearly impossible to find. The sound is MONEY.
3 hours in now we are officially on the songs finishing touches. Plugged the Julia pedal up to the Rhodes keyboard it comes in at the pre chorus. Sprinkle writes musical hook on 2nd intro/outro.
Cody suggests a harmonic note at the top. The descriptive word is “80’s”.
We need claps, a pad on chorus. 2nd verse acoustic is muted to lower dynamic and break monotony.
